Why Community Matters

When people see Ollie scaling a rocky trail or Sweet Pea charging up a mountain ridge, their first reaction is usually awe — followed quickly by curiosity. How do you even train a cat to do that?

The truth is, Backpackineers was never meant to be a one-cat (or even two-cat) show. While Ollie and Sweet Pea sparked this adventure, the real story is much bigger: it’s about the growing community of people around the world who are taking their cats outdoors — and changing what it means to be a pet parent. That’s why we’ve launched Community Stories, a space dedicated to you. This isn’t just our blog. It’s a platform for adventure cat parents everywhere to share the highs, the challenges, and the unforgettable moments of exploring the outdoors with whiskered companions.

Why Share Your Story?

  1. Inspiration multiplies. When a new cat parent reads that someone just like them took their shy rescue kitty on a first backyard leash walk, it lights a spark. One story fuels another.

  2. We learn together. Maybe your cat figured out a harness hack that made all the difference. Or you found the perfect camping setup for litter boxes. By sharing, you’re contributing practical wisdom the whole community can use.

  3. Representation matters. Right now, the internet is full of dogs on trails. But cats? We’re just beginning to scratch the surface. Every story expands what’s possible and puts adventure cats on the map — literally.

What Kinds of Stories Fit?

Community Stories are as diverse as the cats themselves. A few ideas:

  • First adventures: the very first time you stepped outside with your cat, how it went, what you learned.

  • Epic journeys: hiking trips, kayaking excursions, camping weekends.

  • Unexpected wins: how your cat surprised you, overcame fear, or showed resilience.

  • Gear tips in action: stories that show how you used a harness, backpack, or other tool in real conditions.

  • Bonding moments: because sometimes the story isn’t about the trail, it’s about the connection you deepened.

Social Option: Already posted your adventure on Instagram or TikTok? Drop us the link. We may feature your post right here in Community Stories (with credit).

Not a writer? Even a few sentences and a photo make a great contribution. We’ll polish it up if needed.

Be Part of Something Bigger

The best journeys aren’t just about where you go, but what you notice along the way.
The best journeys aren’t just about where you go, but what you notice along the way.

Adventure cat culture is still in its early days, and that makes every story, every photo, every voice all the more powerful. Whether your cat just braved their first harness or has summited ten peaks, your experience matters.

So consider this your open invitation: add your pawprint to the Backpackineers story.
